Last night, we said farewell and thank you to our amazing poppy chair Maureen.
Maureen has been with the Russell Legion for many years volunteering her time with the Poppy Campaign.
You will be missed by so many people you did an amazing job for this village.
Maureen was also a big part of the ladies auxiliary .
Thank you so much for all of your help over the years.

Our Executive has welcomed some new commrades to our Board. Welcome to Loren Pearson, Paul Brown, Matt Wilson and Chris Windle to our Team.
Well we are hoping to have some reopening news at our March 13th 2024 General Meeting.
For Community News our Secretary Cindy and Nevada Chair Reeann have been running monthly 50 50 Draws to sports clubs to still be able to help out. These draws have been going well so far we have helped Hockey, Broomball and Basketball. If you would like to have your local Child who needs to fundraise for a community event or sports team please contact Reeann at entertainment.rcl372@gmail.com for more info. This month we are welcoming two new commrades to our Executive Board. Maureen our Poppy Chair is leaving the Russell Area. We wish Maureen all of the luck in the future she will be GREATLY missed.

We would love to share the Great News of our 2023 Poppy Campaign.
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 372 would like to thank the faithful schools, businesses and patrons of Russell, Embrun, Limoges, Vars and Casselman who supported our annual campaign. With your help and support of our dedicated volunteers, 5 Cyclone Air Cadets and 2804 Casselman Army Cadets, we collected $13,933.
The monies raised support the Veterans, and their families, the Perley Health Foundation, bursaries and our local Cadets.
Another year is almost behind us. Unfortunately we were not able to get the doors open we were still helping and serving the community. We are hoping to have news to reopen in the New Year.
This year recap we had our yearly golf tournament which we will use the funds for a seating area outside of the Legion. We had a trivia night, baseball bbq, yearly veterans dinner, meet me on main street, silent auctions, visits to the Russell Meadows, Remembrance Day Parade and Ceremony, 50/50 to help local sports teams. We are trying our best to work with the Township, Insurance Companies and contactors to to get our Legion Open. We look forward to seeing everyone in the New Year. Merry Christmas from the Executive of Branch 372.
Our Ceremony will be held at the Russell Legion on November 11th 2023. Preparations are underway. We hope to see everyone at the Legion.
Frecon is currently fixing the structural damage that we have from the fire in 2022. Reopening of the upstairs will be announced shortly.

We are starting planning of the 2023 Remembrance Day Ceremony. Stay tuned for complete details.
The Russell Legion was happy to help Tayla with her expenses for her upcoming Worlds Competition.
Tayla has qualified to be a member of Team Canada for the following events:
Continuous Fighting – won Silver Medal at Regionals
Point Fighting – won Silver Medal at Regionals
Kempo Form – won 4th place at Regionals
Chinese Form – won 4th place at Regionals
Tayla has also just been asked to compete in Team Point Fighting and Team Continuous Fighting.
This year the World Karate Commision (WKC) the World Championships will be in Orlando Florida from October 21-27.

We are able to help youth sports team in our area through our Nevada Fund.
Unfortunately the building is not open yet… But we are still conducting Legion business…. The Golf Tournament is only a week away.
